SHS takes a further step in its ESG efforts and is now climate neutral
Since SHS became a member of the UN PRI and even before that, we have endeavoured to comply with ESG guidelines both within our own company and at all our portfolio companies. Existing portfolio companies are regularly subjected to an ESG review. A dedicated ESG review is also carried out for potential new portfolio companies during due diligence, and if this is not passed, this is definitely a reason not to make an investment.
SHS is now going one step further with its collaboration with the non-profit organisation atmosfair. We have finalised our emissions offsetting for 2023 and will continue to ensure that we offset unavoidable CO2 emissions in the future by investing in climate protection projects. This includes, for example, the company’s electricity and heating costs as well as all goods and letters that are ordered or sent.
Corporate carbon offsetting is not yet a final solution in the area of climate protection and will not be the last step that SHS takes to fulfil its ESG responsibility. But it is a further step towards a more life-conscious future.
atmosfair plays an important role here. This organisation creates offsetting opportunities where C02 emissions cannot be avoided in the form of climate protection projects for meaningful compensation. These projects range from the construction of solar plants for the effective use of solar energy, the promotion and utilisation of hydropower and the use of biomass and biogas in developing countries, to the fundamental environmental education of older and younger generations to raise environmental awareness.
