SHS is included in the PRI initiative of the UN
A few weeks ago, SHS officially became a member of the United Nations PRI Initiative for Responsible Investment, which was founded in 2006. PRI stands for “Principles for Responsible Investment”. Dr. André Zimmermann is an SHS partner and Head of ESG and thus responsible for socially responsible investing at SHS. We talked to him about this topic:
What does PRI membership mean for SHS?
Dr André Zimmermann: SHS has been investing in the healthcare sector according to ethical standards for more than 30 years. For us, inclusion in the circle of PRI investors is a confirmation of our work and at the same time a motivation to give the topic of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) even more priority.
Does PRI membership change anything at SHS?
Dr André Zimmermann: Not fundamentally. At SHS, the necessary structures and processes have long been firmly established with which we continuously monitor and improve our and our portfolio companies’ ESG balance sheets. For example, ESG reporting is part of the quarterly and annual reports for our investors, who in turn are placing increasing emphasis on the topic of ESG.
How should one imagine an ESG investment in concrete terms?
Dr André Zimmermann: Take the example of phenox GmbH, a very innovative medtech manufacturer in North Rhine-Westphalia, whose treatment methods help patients to prevent or mitigate the consequences of a stroke. By supporting such growth companies with capital and know-how, we are engaging in successful ESG investing, which in turn also benefits the investors in our funds.
Thank you very much for the interview.
